"For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so--it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit" (2 Pet. 1:21 AMP).
Watching closely how parents guide their children to paths they deem right (and away from wrong paths), should give you an idea of how God seeks to lead us in our daily lives. God is more loving, more caring and more purposeful than the most loving and caring natural parent; and you can surely trust that God would lead you only to the “still waters” in life, if you and I would allow Him.
There is a place of safety in this life. David called it "Still Waters". Chaos is always absent at that place. It is the place where you see God's leading so clear for your life. It is the place where God shows you things to come, so you plan ahead to avoid defeat. Thank God for His revelation that "He leads us (always) to that place of the 'Still Waters'"(Psalm 23:2). Halleluiah!
As God leads us by the "Inward Witness", He could cause a divine impulsion, compulsion or movement in our spirits. That is another way to locate the inward witness. That is to say God does cause His Holy Spirit to "bear us along" concerning a matter. In such situations, you literally feel the Holy Spirit moving in and upon your spirit to believe something, say something, act something, withdraw from something or draw closer to something. Amen.
Our main verse reveals this phenomenon as one of the ways the Prophets of old received and revealed the scriptures. They were "borne along" by the Holy Spirit. They were impelled upon by the Holy Spirit to speak words (from God) which they did not have any knowledge or understanding of. It may not have made sense to them and the people of their days, especially concerning the times of the New Covenant. Yet the Holy Spirit moved upon them to speak! That's wonderful to know isn't it? Because now that we live in the times of the full manifestation of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost will surely bear us along also concerning many matters of our daily lives! Halleliuah.
Friend, it is so important for us to condition our spirits to receive from the Holy Spirit in us. By spiritual perceptions, divine promptings and compulsions of the Holy Spirit in our spirits, we will definitely be soaring high with revelation knowledge in God's word, as well as divine direction concerning every matter in life. That is the glorious place God wants us to be - "The Still Waters". Let's position our spirits so we can always locate the Inward Witness when God leads us.

Holy Spirit, I welcome you into my spirit, and into my life. My spirit is open up to you. I connect to your witness for my life. I receive your witness for my life. I declare that I am led by you always, to the place of "Still Waters", the place of safety. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Amen.
