If people can walk and play in the rain without letting anything be a hindrance, even for natural causes, how much more for a divine cause? This was the story at the UCF Joint Service last Sunday morning (19/02/2102), and you could only imagine what glory will follow as the meeting ensued.
The service began with prayers led by the prayer department concerning the rest of the day’s service and other areas. The showers did not stop there, but people were caught up in the prayer while others kept coming to the New Revival Grounds (Sarbah Field) with umbrellas. Soon it was time for the mass choir to lead the congregation in times praises and worship. The Bible declares that God inhabits the praise and worship of His people. No wonder at the end of the call to worship, the rains had stopped. Halleluiah! It was time to praise God, and you sure can tell how believers would dance to this moment of victory over the rain which naturally was to fall that morning.
Top on the list of songs was “It Is Raining”, a popular song of praise with peaked the victory celebration over the stopped rains with various types and kinds of dances. Paul and Saviour (MCs for the programme) then showed up, and welcomed the U.C.F Prayer Secretary and his team to lead the congregation in yet another time of Spirit – anointed prayers, with focus on intercession. By the time Mass Theatre took to the stage to minister, the place was almost full. It was a wonderful choreography with Stella Seal’s “Okura Yen Mu” (watch video). I must say that with their delightful dance, they showed how God keeps us in the shadow of His wings so our feet are not moved! The UCF Secretary followed with the day’s announcement. It was real bliss in the presence of the Lord. The U.C.F president came and introduced the various dignitaries present including the various denominational heads. Of course the former Chaplaincy Board Chairman Mr. Newman as well as the present, Apostle Doctor Assuming Brempong was also present. After the introduction of dignitaries, Apostle Brempong introduced the preacher for the service, Lady Pastor Grace Fletcher. She was welcomed by a solo ministration by a lead singer of the Lighthouse Chapel International, a song of desire for God Himself and not just His blessings.
Lady Pastor Fletcher spoke on “Manifesting the Glory of God”. Her message did cut across various areas God expects us to show forth His glory to the world, emphasizing the need for believers to grow up and live spirit – filled lives. (Full message coming soon).
Her inspiring message touched the hearts of many, who rushed to the ‘alter’ to receive eternal life. Many who wanted to rededicate their lives to God were also prayed for. Not only does heaven rejoice when souls are saved; the earth rejoices too. The University of Ghana Mass Choir ministered wonderfully during the offertory time. Vashawn Mitchell’s “Nobody Greater” and O.J.’s “Adom ne Odo” were the cast. And the congregation could not hide their delight as they took to their feet dancing, whiles others stood or sat singing, humming and nodding in that atmosphere. Before the service ended, Doctor Assuming Brempong announced the desire of the University to build a 4000 chaplaincy complex for all believers on campus. The complex would be equipped with rooms for denominations to hold their midweek services and meetings. Piece of great news isn’t it? Finally, he called on Mr. Newman the Former Chaplaincy Board Chairman to give the closing prayer, after which he gave the benediction bringing the first U.C.F joint service to a successful end.
