Day 4 - C.O.P Chairman's Closing Message PDF Print E-mail
Written by ITI Website Committee
Tuesday, 12 January 2010 15:08
With over 2700 participants unto one roof all anxious to hear what the Lord had for them in manifesting His Glory, it was now time to bring the conference to an end. It pleased the participants to have the chairman grace the occasion with his word full or mysteries and revelations. After series of songs had been sang the chairman was called upon to give his message. He began his message with the theme’s text which was taken from 2 Corinthians 3:18 “but we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” KJV.

He said we cannot see God’s glory and still live; therefore if we indeed wanted to see the manifestation of God’s glory we need to be prepared to pay a sacrifice which is death. Moses in Exodus 33:18-20 asked to see God’s glory but the best God could offer him was to cover Moses’ face so he could only see God’s back because "no man can ever see God’s face and yet live." The reason Moses wasn’t able to see God’s glory was simply because humanity fell in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned making their bodies mortal and imperfect.

In Genesis 1:26-27 Apostle established the fact that when the Bible talked of man it meant both male and female So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. In the book of Genesis 1, we see that whatever God created was good and perfect but why then was man not able to see God and still live? The answer was just simple, man fell in the garden. Then again if man was made in God’s image and likeness, what then was in man that made him so weak and venerable to sin? Man was very intelligent because he was made in the likeness of God and he gave names to all the things we see. In Genesis 2:16 God asked man to eat of every fruit in the garden including the fruit of life but of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil He commanded them not to touch for they were surely going to die if they did eat of it.  We must bear in mind that when the serpent visited man in the garden, Adam was present with his wife at the time of the visit Genesis 3:6.

When the serpent asked the woman what God had said concerning the forbidden fruit in Genesis 3:3, she said God commanded that “…ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die” ; but when the devil quoted that same commandment in verse 4, he said unto the woman “ye shall not surely die”, we realize here that the devil even knew what God had commanded them more than the woman did. When the devil picked that statement he twisted it and made it look exactly the same as what God had said.  One thing worth noting here is that whiles "God works from the inside the devil intend works from the outside". Eve ate the fruit wanting to be like God just as the devil did which caused his downfall. Even though God was fellowshipping with them on daily basis, they decided to believe in the statement of a total stranger.

Most of us in our various places of engagement tend to disregard those around us (our parents, pastors, elders, etc) but believe in lies from outsiders. The man was well aware even more than the woman because he was the one God gave the commandment regarding the tree of knowledge of good and evil. When the woman saw the fruit she saw that it was good for food, which is a satisfaction of a physical desire. When the devil wants to deceive us he begins from the outside by using things which are pleasant on the outside like sex, alcohol, gambling etc. we need to be careful of things we see because as we keep on watching them we begin to think about them, dream about them and even go ahead to practice them as well. He said “the devil begins from outside but God begins from within”.

Adam and Eve realized that they were naked, fallen and had been deceived by the devil. They therefore thought they should cover themselves up with fig leaves since their eyes had open and their nakedness had been shown. It was a false covering to use fig leaves because the fig leave when wet could cover them up for a while but their nakedness would be shown again when it dries up. We often sin and begin to cover ourselves with fig leaves which isn’t possible because our sins shall be found when the "fig leaves" dry up. The fig tree symbolizes things which promise but do not fulfill and that’s why Jesus cursed the fig tree in the book of Mark. The fig tree has two seasons the On-season and Off-season so when Jesus saw that the leaves of the tree had been green at the time which wasn’t supposed to be green he thought he could have some fruit but was disappointed so he had to curse it because the tree gave a promise without fulfilling. He said if we want a perfect covering for our sins we must go to God.

He continued, in Exodus 33:19 -23, God told Moses that before he (Moses) could see His (God'd) glory, He had to put Moses “in a cleft of the rock”. Anyone who was said to have seen God in the Old Testament saw Jesus in His pre –incarnate state for no one has ever seen God, 1 John 4:12, John 1:18. The appearance by God in a human form is called theofany (God in a human form). The first time a rock was made mention in the wilderness experience was when Moses struck the rock with his rod for water to gush out Exodus17:5 -7. In the Old Testament David referred to the Lord as his Rock and Fortress, Hannah also referred to Him as the Rock and Paul in 1Corinthian 10:4 referred to Christ as the Rock. If Christ is the Rock then He would be the Rock that was smitten in the wilderness.

Again, when God wanted to create the woman He had to cause a deep sleep to man and create the woman out of the side of the rib of man. When Jesus was crucified His side was pierced with a spear, and out came water and blood. The insertion of the spear signifies the creation of the Church by God into the Son so that as He dies and resurrects, the Church would also die and resurrect with Him. Now coming back to Moses, we realize that his being put into the cleft of the Rock was signifying the Church being put into Christ Jesus as a Saviour. The water and blood that gushed out were for cleansing of the Church.

In Numbers 20:3-13 God asked Moses to speak to the rock and water would gush out but instead he went ahead and struck it twice but all the same the water gushed out in abundance even though he had disobeyed. This tells us that not all the miracles we see are done with obedience but God tries to overlook such things. After Christ has resurrected all we need to do is just speak to Him and not strike him again. We sometimes entertain ourselves with prayer but God answers us through His mercies. Another thing worth noting is that we can have water gush out of the rock by just singing as in Numbers 21:16 – 18. It was the only miracle God included all the elders of the people of Israel and also the only time the people of Israel didn’t complain about lack of water. At this time Aaron had died for disobeying God. God included the elders to make them aware that even if Moses and Aaron are no more He was going to use them in making miracles. It comes a time in our lives where we have to sing to praise God to course things to happen in our lives.

When Jesus came to this world He had to reconcile this scripture to Himself in connection to those who would receive the baptism of the Holy spirit but he had to do that at the feast of the turbanicle. This was an important period for the Israelites because it reminded them of their wilderness experience. This had to be celebrated in 7 days and a high priest would pour water on the alter at the temple site. On the final day Jesus went to the festival (even though he didn’t attend the first 6day’s festival and had not been invited either) and just when the high priest was about performing his sacrifice, Jesus came and shouted “if anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink who ever believes in me as the scripture had said streams of living waters shall flow through him”. He created confusion among the people at that point because he wasn’t of any rank in the Church, no one had invited him and more over he drew attention to Himself right when a high priest was performing a traditional sacrifice to God. Christ was worried about traditions without meanings and wanted the people to come to Him for everlasting water and life and not to rely on the high priest.s This incident in actual fact caused his final arrest.

In conclusion, if we believe in Jesus, out of our Souls, Bodies and Spirits shall flow streams of living waters and spiritual gifs would begin to be manifested, but first we have to be put in the cleft of the Rock. Once we are put there and come out we are sanctified, washed and cleansed, then we begin to speak to Him. And as we speak to Him we have the ability to sing, then  out of our  bellies will flow streams of living waters and as the stream flows we begin to gaze Him face to face. As we gaze Him face to face we begin to reflect His Glory and when we go out we would be manifesting the Glory without even realizing it through singing, praising and worshiping Him always.

After his sermon, there was a time of prayers where all the delegates were called forward for the Apostles to pour out their blessing upon them. Another equally important event as planned for the day also took place. It was the ordination of new Elders, Deacons and Deaconesses of the Church. There were about 11 newly ordained Elders, 20 Deacons and 16 Deaconesses who had avail themselves ready and prepared to be servants in the Lord’s vineyard. They were prayed for by the whole congregation and laying on of hands were done by the Apostles to usher them into the new working environment. They were charged by the chairman to be very diligent in the execution of their duties and to note that they were called to serve in the church and not be bosses over their churche members and other leaders of the church.

They were also to note that the Church has its own tenets, hence they must be ready to face any form of punishment for disobeying any of the rules and regulations.
